I'm a conservative republican, but I'm sorry. This is moronic and childish. This is a republican in a heavily black, democratic district long dominated by corrupt race-baiters. Cao will be the only republican that district ever sees in office and will vote with his party on most social, education and defense issues. Don't hang him for this one vote, when the alternative is "Dollar Bill" Jefferson.
And this is the reason why the republican party is falling apart. Where does the buck stop? A compromise here, a compromise there and before you know it, you are no longer distinguishable from the democrats. Although I'm registered as a republican, I consider myself a CONSERVATIVE, first and foremost.
so Republicans need to vote differently to be "distinguishable from the democrats" ??? Rep. Cao casted his vote for the people in his district, not for the lobbyists.
Rep. Cao has expressed his vote well in CNN. He represents his district first and voted his conscience in this matter. I respect him and proud to see a honest, thrustworthy congressman like him on the hill. Go Anh Cao!!!!! Your district needs you and America needs you.
